Breaking: New poll & stopping Prop 32

Posted by Rose Kapolczynski on October 26, 2012.

While most of the attention is rightly on the presidential race and other key races here at home, I wanted to give you an update from the Mayoral campaign trail.

  • First, some breaking news: A new independent poll this week shows Wendy has pulled away from the pack and is the frontrunner in the race for Mayor. Among likely voters, Wendy leads with 30 percent of the vote, as reported in the LA Weekly. Her closest competitor, Eric Garcetti, lags behind with 14 percent.
  • And in a sign of growing momentum, Wendy has earned the support of former City Controller Laura Chick and the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) Southern California District Council. Welcome to Team Wendy!

One of the many important issues on the November ballot is Prop. 32. We encourage you to join Wendy, the League of Women Voters, the LA County Democratic Party, and dozens of community organizations across our state in voting No on Prop 32.

We are organizing Team Wendy volunteers to help phone bank for No on 32 in the closing days of the election. RSVP today!

Prop 32’s backers say it would get special interest money out of California elections. That’s a laudable goal, but Prop 32 is not what it seems. Prop 32 creates a special exemption allowing thousands of big businesses – and billionaire-funded SuperPACs – to continue the flood of money into our politics. That’s not right.

Wendy is urging her friends and supporters to vote No on Prop 32. If you have even one hour between now and Election Day, I hope you’ll join Team Wendy at one of our phone banks.

Thanks,

Rose Kapolczynski,

What Matters to Wendy

"Everywhere I go, Angelenos tell me the same thing.

"They're frustrated with government. They believe the city doesn't work and they don't see a clear set of priorities on how to fix it. They want someone who they know will prioritize job creation and get our economy moving again. And, they want better schools for our kids.

"These are issues I will champion as Mayor."
