San Fernando Valley Leaders Endorse Greuel, Join ‘Valley Leaders with Wendy’ Committee

LOS ANGELES— Coming on the heels of raising $2.2 million for the primary election, today the Wendy Greuel campaign announced the ‘Valley Leaders with Wendy’ committee.

The full list of committee members encompasses a diverse range of local Valley leaders, including small business leaders, neighborhood council members, students, grassroots activists, community organizers, as well as a wide-ranging list of respected professionals.

The ‘Valley Leaders with Wendy’ committee will work to help expand the campaign’s already extensive network of supporters throughout the Valley. It will also help to build the campaign’s Valley-based grassroots volunteer infrastructure in the months ahead.

“I love the diversity of Los Angeles neighborhoods, from San Pedro to Sherman Oaks, from Rancho Park to Highland Park and Watts. But I have a special place in my heart for the Valley. I grew up in the Valley and my family has long owned a small business in the Valley. It's home,” said Controller Greuel.

Controller Greuel added, “It means a great deal to me to have the support of so many Valley community neighbors and local leaders. Their excitement and enthusiasm inspires me and I know that together, we can create a better Los Angeles.”

The San Fernando Valley represents roughly 40% of the city of Los Angeles, and in a citywide race, having a substantial base of supporters in the Valley is important.

Additionally, the campaign also recently launched the ‘Women with Wendy’ committee.

Significantly, even at this early stage in the race, Greuel has also been picking up powerful labor endorsements and has already secured endorsements from the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Moving Picture Technicians, Artists and Allied Crafts (IATSE), United Steel Workers (USW), Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 1277, and the Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 501.

What Matters to Wendy

"Everywhere I go, Angelenos tell me the same thing.

"They're frustrated with government. They believe the city doesn't work and they don't see a clear set of priorities on how to fix it. They want someone who they know will prioritize job creation and get our economy moving again. And, they want better schools for our kids.

"These are issues I will champion as Mayor."
